Description | "THIS COURSE PROVIDES AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF CHEMISTRY, ESPECIALLY CARBON CHEMISTRY, SO THAT THE MATERIAL STUDIED INCLUDES: C ORBITAL FORMS, PROPERTIES AND NOMENCLATURE OF HYDROCARBONS INCLUDING ALKANES, ALKENES AND ALKENES. THE STRUCTURES AND FORMS OF ALKANES AND ALKENES ISOMERS ARE CLARIFIED IN STEREOCHEMISTRY. SIMPLE REACTIONS TO ALKYL HALIDES INCLUDE SUBSTITUTION AND ELIMINATION REACTIONS. THE NOMENCLATURE, PROPERTIES AND USES OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS SUCH AS ALCOHOLS AND ETHERS AS WELL AS BENZENE AND THEIR DERIVATIVES ARE STUDIED WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE FIRST AND SECOND SUBSTITUTION REACTIONS FOR BENZENE. TO STRENGTHEN THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF SUBSTITUTION REACTIONS INCLUDING NUCLEOPHILIC AND ELECTROPHILIC SUBSTITUTION, IT CAN BE DEEPENED IN PRACTICUM ACTIVITIES IN THE LABORATORY. " |
