The Student Center at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is a multifunctional building that serves as a hub for student activities, coordination, and collaboration. Officially inaugurated by Rektor Prof. Dr. Amin Abdullah on December 6, 2005, this three-story building provides administrative spaces and support facilities for various student organizations (ormawa).

Background and Concept

The Student Center was conceived to address the scattered administrative offices of student organizations across different faculties. Previously, each organization had separate secretariats, leading to imbalanced workloads and overlapping programs. Inspired by models from other universities (such as UI, UIN Jakarta, UIN Malang, NTU Singapore, and several Malaysian institutions), UIN Sunan Kalijaga adopted a unified approach. The current Student Center concept integrates all student organizations under one roof, ensuring interconnectedness, streamlined governance, and efficient management.

Facilities and Organization

The Student Center houses various student organizations, including SEMA (Student Executive Board), DEMA (Departmental Student Association), UKM (Student Activity Units), and HMPS (Faculty Student Associations). Each group has its administrative space equipped with office furniture, computers, telephone lines, internet access, meeting rooms, a prayer room, daily newspapers, restrooms, and parking facilities. The management of the Student Center falls under the purview of the Coordinator for Activities and Order, supported by the Disciplinary Team.
